At WWDC 2026, the main highlight was the presentation of Siri AI—a completely redesigned version of Apple's voice assistant built on Google Gemini models.

New Capabilities and Naturalness

Siri AI has acquired a more natural and conversational character. Users can now adjust the pace and expressiveness of the assistant's speech, and the voice itself sounds much closer to human, getting rid of its previous synthetic tone.

The assistant has learned to consider the user's personal context and screen content. In addition, there is a separate chatbot application that can be used to ask questions, generate texts and images, and analyze files. The visual intelligence feature allows Siri to answer questions about what the device's camera sees or analyze screenshots.

Privacy and Apple Intelligence

Apple Intelligence features use on-device data processing and Private Cloud Compute technology. Apple guarantees that user data is used exclusively to fulfill the current request and is inaccessible to the company itself or third parties.

Supported Devices

The new Siri and advanced AI features will be integrated into iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27, watchOS 27, and visionOS 27.

Supported devices include:

  • iPhone 16 and newer
  • iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max
  • iPad mini with A17 Pro chip
  • iPad and Mac devices with M1 chip and newer
  • Apple Watch Series 10+, Ultra 2+ and SE 3

For maximum performance of AI functions, next-generation devices with at least 12 GB of RAM will be required, such as the iPhone Air, iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max, iPad with M4 chip and Mac with M3.

Release and Availability

The release of Siri AI is scheduled for fall 2026, and initially, the assistant will only support the English language. At launch, the new features will not be available on iPhone and iPad in the EU, as well as in China.

Leadership Change

The conference also became historic for the company: it was Tim Cook's last appearance as CEO. On September 1, 2026, he will hand over the post to Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering John Ternus.
